Top Ten Tuesday: Get me in the Mooood

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted over at The Broke and the Bookish. Check em' out.

As a lover of lists, I could not resist.

This week's topic:

Top Ten Books To Get In The Halloween Spirit:

1. The Wicked Heart by Christopher Pike- I was a tad bit obsessed with this author when I was younger. This book in particular scared the living bejeezus out of me.  Disturbingly horrortastic.

The Wicked Heart

2. The Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling- I don't think I need an explanation for this one.
Harry Potter Boxset

3. Daughter of Smoke & Bone by Laini Taylor- devils and angels. A BRILLIANT book.

Daughter of Smoke and Bone (Daughter of Smoke and Bone, #1)

4. The Forest of Hands and Teeth series by Carrie Ryan- zombies!

The Forest of Hands and Teeth (The Forest of Hands and Teeth, #1)

5. Interview with the Vampire by Anne Rice-  Non-sparkly vampires!

Interview With the Vampire (Vampire Chronicles, #1)

6. Boris and Bella by Carolyn Crimi- I adore this children's book. Such a cute Halloween story. And the illustrations are soo good!

Boris and Bella

7. Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark by Alvin Schwartz, Stephen Gammell- Another book I had as a kid. Forget the stories, the pictures alone were enough to ensure I slept with the lights ON.

Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark

8. The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman- Ghosts! a Killer on the loose!

The Graveyard Book

9. The Art of Tim Burton by Tim Burton- Because what about this guy does NOT scream Halloween?

10. The Hex Hall series by Rachel Hawkins- Witches!

Hex Hall (Hex Hall, #1)

Just typing up this list is getting me into the Halloween spirit!  Have you read any of these? Leave a comment with your link so I can check out what gets you in the mood. :)

  7. Wow! Awesome list! I only read the last vampire series by Pike, so now I'm intrigued. I agree with so many of your picks: Interview with the Vampire, The Graveyard Book, Scary Stories, The Art of Time Burton, The Forest of Hands and teeth. A+. I need to check out Boris and Bella. 8. You some great picks here, Elizabeth! I was more of a fan of R.L. Stine's Fearstreet series than Pike. I think Pike upped the ante which I wasn't comfortable with. I loved Graveyard which is a paranormal retelling of Jungle Book and "Interview" had me up for hours after reading it!

p.s. Thanks for the follow and I'm now following your blog. :)

  9. I love Tim Burton! The Corpse Bride and Sweeny Todd are a couple of favorites :-) Yes for Christopher Pike, too. I have some of his old books and my 14 yer old cousin thought I was nuts when I told her I used to read books by him before she was born, lol. Great list and thanks for visiting!
