Know Me Better

I love this idea! Know Me Better is hosted by I Am A Reader, Not a Writer. Each week she picks 5 questions off her author interview list to answer. Anyone can participate and she has a place to link up on her page! OOH yeah!

1. If you could live anywhere in the world where would it be?
-In a cozy ocean front beach house. Or under the sea, Little Mermaid-style. Also Hogwarts.

2. Favorite Literary Characters?
-All the characters in the Harry Potter series!

3. In your wildest dreams, which author would you love to co-author a book with?
-The one and only J.K Rowling! And only if the co-authoring involved me reading her newest material titled Harry Potter: The Next Generation or Harry Potter: James and Lily Forever.

4. Things that bring a smile to your face?
- Animals. Videos of animals doing cute things.  Bodies of water.

5. Do you have a favorite saying?
-A quote is the same as a saying? I think yes.

"In the stillness of headstones, darkness is my blanket.
and forever is an endless song.
in the arms of stone angels I'm not afraid.
because finally and completely I belong."
-Jordan Dane

"and, when he shall die, take him and cut him out in little stars, and he will make the face of Heaven so fine that all the world will be in love with night and pay no worship to the garish sun.."
-W.Shakespeare

The Artist's Den

ART.

I like bold, bright colors. I like dark and twisted. I like art that doesn't make sense. I like art that draws me in and doesn't want to let me go. Conventional or unconventional. Hard  and  soft.  Light and dark. It's emotional. It's emotionless. It's cathartic.  It can mean nothing or it can mean everything.  Art is as much for the creator as it is for the admirer. And because of that, I believe there is no bad art.  As long as people are imagining and expressing and inventing and creating.....

Every week I'm going to highlight a couple of my newly discovered favorite artists. Maybe the art will be bookish related, maybe not.  I will always post the link to the artist's page.

by Sara Michaels @ SEMillustrations - This talented gal specializes in children-esque drawings with creepy elements.  Here's 2 of my favorites:
Cinderella Illustration - 9 1/2 x 9 1/2 Print

Sleeping Beauty Illustration - 9 1/2 x 9 1/2 Print

by William Ray @ WhimsicalFunk - What a PERFECT name.

Bloom So - Original Mixed Media on Broken Skateboard

My Thoughts: Through the Ever Night (Veronica Rossi)

Through the Ever Night (Under the Never Sky, #2)

*This is the second book in the Under the Never Sky Trilogy*

(Goodreads blurb/link)

It's been months since Aria last saw Perry. Months since Perry was named Blood Lord of the Tides, and Aria was charged with an impossible mission. Now, finally, they are about to be reunited. But their reunion is far from perfect. The Tides don't take kindly to Aria, a former Dweller. And with the worsening Aether storms threatening the tribe's precarious existence, Aria begins to fear that leaving Perry behind might be the only way to save them both.

Threatened by false friends, hidden enemies, and powerful temptations, Aria and Perry wonder, Can their love survive through the ever night?

My Thoughts:
This is the sequel to Under the Never Sky. GO READ THAT FIRST! Then come back.

If you're looking for a scattered, ineloquent, drooly review, you've come to the right place.

Oh.My.Geez. This book was FANTASTIC!! From start to finish, there was never a dull moment. It's jam packed with action, adventure, turmoil, struggles, romance, twists and turns.  This book had absolutely everything you could want. SO FREAKING GOOD!!!

If you 've read Under the Never Sky but haven't picked this shining gem up yet,  DON'T WAIT ANY LONGER! I'm serious! You have NO CLUE what you're missing.

The writing is perfection.  I love Aria and Perry so much. SOOO MUCH.  It's rare that I love a "side" character as much as the main characters. But let me tell you, that Roar is something else.  His character is written extremely well and if there was a spin-off series surrounding him I would read it in a heartbeat.  (If you haven't read the novella Roar and Liv- DO IT).

I don't even know how to get my thoughts in order. Aria and Perry are reunited after months apart. Perry is now the Blood Lord of The Tides and finds himself torn between duty and love. Aria, being half Dweller and half Outsider feels like she doesn't fit in anywhere. Roar is still devastated and consumed with wanting to find Liv. And all the while the Aether storms are getting worse and threatening to destroy everything and everybody. The only hope is to find the Still Blue. BUT that presents some difficulty as the person who knows its where abouts is blackmailing Aria and can't be trusted.

SO MUCH HAPPENS in this book. I'm not even going to attempt to put it in logical order. THE ENDING. AHHH.  The chemistry between Aria and Perry! The way my heart breaks for Roar and Liv!
You HAVE to read this book. You just do. You just do do.

Favorite Quotes:
"Love is a rebellious bird that nobody can tame.”

"We lose and lose, but we're still here. Shaking in place, afraid of doing something. I'm tired of settling for this because I don't know if something better exists. It has to. What point is there otherwise? I can do something about it now. And I will.”

Bottom Line:  Through the Ever Night is an exciting, heart pounding, nail biting follow-up that has me desperate for the next book in this fantastic series! 5/5!

Top Ten Tuesday: Favorite Young Adult Boys

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish!

This week's topic is Top Ten Favorite Characters in X Genre, which I'm going to turn in to:

Ten of my Favorite Young Adult Boys!
(This, obviously, is not a complete list. I've also tried to add some variety. I feel like my lists are all the same)

1. Jem from The Infernal Devices -  Maybe if I make my heart break NOW, when I read Clockwork Princess it will hurt a little less, because I just KNOW Cassie is going to rip that organ to  shreds.

Clockwork Angel (The Infernal Devices, #1)Clockwork Prince (The Infernal Devices, #2)Clockwork Princess (The Infernal Devices, #3)

"His beauty did not blaze like Will's did in fierce colors and repressed fire, but it had its own muted perfection, the loveliness of snow falling against a silver gray sky.”

2. Park from Eleanor & Park -  set to be published on 2/26/13. I think after reading this book Park will be a lot of people's favorite.

Eleanor and Park

3. Cricket from Lola and the Boy Next Door

Lola and the Boy Next Door

4. Will from Slammed and Point of Retreat - Another one of those lovable boys-next-door.

Slammed (Slammed, #1)Point of Retreat (Slammed, #2)

"I've learned something about my heart. It can break. It can be ripped apart. It can harden and freeze. It can stop. Completely. It can shatter into a million pieces. It can explode. It can die. The only thing that made it start beating again? The moment you opened your eyes."

5. Roger from Amy & Roger's Epic Detour - I wouldn't mind going on a cross-country road trip with this guy.

 Amy and Roger's Epic Detour
“Perfect is overrated. Perfect is boring."
I smile. "You don't think I'm perfect?"
"No. You're delightfully screwy, and I wouldn't have you any other way.”

6. Roar from Under the Never Sky, Roar & Liv, and Through the Ever Night - I fell for Roar whilst reading the short in between novella.  His humor and passion and heart and fierce protection of the ones he loves makes him a favorite.

Under the Never Sky (Under the Never Sky, #1)Roar and Liv (Under the Never Sky, #0.5)Through the Ever Night (Under the Never Sky, #2)

7. Sean from The Scorpio Races
The Scorpio Races

8. Miles (a.k.a Pudge) from Looking for Alaska - funny and endearing and awkward and intelligent.
Looking for Alaska

"It is worth it to leave behind my minor life for grander maybes."

9. Puck from The Iron Fey series - I'm not going to lie. Ash started off as my favorite. And I do think he's a better fit for Meghan (not that I'm saying that's who ends up with her). But after reading one of the novellas and The Iron Knight, Puck found a place in my heart. Let's face it, I'm a sucker for a boy who can make me laugh.  I want a spin-off series focused around his character. PLEASE JULIE.

The Iron King (The Iron Fey, #1)The Iron Daughter (The Iron Fey, #2)The Iron Queen (The Iron Fey, #3)The Iron Knight (Iron Fey, #4)
The Iron Legends (The Iron Fey, #1.5, 3.5, 4.5)

10. Dimitri from the Vampire Academy series - I tried for variety, I really did. But this boy-man keeps invading my brain. He can protect me any day.

Vampire Academy (Vampire Academy, #1)Frostbite (Vampire Academy, #2)Shadow Kiss (Vampire Academy, #3)
Blood Promise (Vampire Academy, #4)Spirit Bound (Vampire Academy, #5)Last Sacrifice (Vampire Academy, #6)
(IF ONLY these covers didn't SUCK SO FREAKING MUCH!)

Leave your list link in the comments and I'll check it out! :)

*I am HIGHLY susceptible to scaring and normally won't watch scary movies by myself, which means I never watch scary movies because none of my friends will watch them with me. It wasn't that the above movies were so terrifying while I was watching them, it was the afterwatched lingering effects that caused me to sleep with the lights on for days afterwards.*
3. Lord of the Rings (Re-Watch) (5/5)

YOU SHALL NOT PASS!!!! haha. Love that part. Before the next part of course.

Know Me Better

I love this idea! Know Me Better is hosted by I Am A Reader, Not a Writer. Each week she picks 5 questions off her author interview list to answer. Anyone can participate and she has a place to link up on her page! OOH yeah!

1. Pieces of Advice you have for aspiring writers?
-Well, I'm not really qualified to give any type of advice. But I suppose from a reader's point of view I would say to aspiring writers: Don't let the negative reviews outweigh the positives.

2. Favorite TV show when you were younger?
Oh man, sooo many shows. If we're talking about REALLY young it was Adventures of the Gummi Bears, Secret World of David Gnome, the ORIGINAL Looney Toons, Duck Tales, Captain Planet, The Smurfs, Rescue Rangers, Doug, Tiny Toons, and Tale Spin! I MISS THEM! Kids shows now a days don't even come close to comparing to the awesomeness of shows in the 80's and 90's. Tragic, really.

How about a little clip of one of my favorite intros? I think so.  I know the recipe for Gummiberry juice but there's just one little problem.....NO GUMMIBERRIES! Also tragic.

3. What would we find if we looked under your bed?
-Nothing exciting. Just a scrunched up travel bag, 2 clothes containers full of clothes I never wear, and let's not forget the copious amounts of dust bunnies. They're friendly really.

4. Book Store or Library?
-If this is one of those questions where I HAVE to choose one OR the other for fear of death, I would choose book store.  If my life isn't threatened, then I choose BOTH!  I love bookstores, because that means I get to keep the books. But I also love the library too, because they're free!

5. Heads or Tails?
The classic question....tails!  Or heads. Heads or tails?
